Eddie’s Cafe - Not-So-Greasy Spoon

Grubgirl had a hankering for some biscuits in sausage gravy. Along with her hungover friend HH, we descended upon this site, across from that bar, Fly. Decent, diverse crowd of folks in a traditional diner. We were about to be seated when we decided to check out Blue Jay’s Cafe up the street.

Average cost of items on BJC’s menu was $2-3 more than at Eddies. We headed back to Eddie’s.

Little Star Pizza: Almost as Good as Zachary’s?

Looking for some Chicago-style pizza and too tired to drive to Berkeley? Look no further, check out this place.

Little Star logo Non-descript and tucked away on Divisadero, you could miss it unless you’re looking for the sign. The street is actually pretty quiet and there are no people milling around, but once you open the doors and enter…it’s like entering a whole new world. The jukebox is playing, the hiply-dressed and casually-dressed are intermingling, and there’s even Pabst Blue Ribbon if you want it.

El Burrito Express: So-cal-Like Burritos

Thumbs up go to El Burrito Express for serving a great, cheap burrito that does not drip!

Who can beat meat burritos for $3.50 (and this is after they’ve recently raised prices from $3.10!)? Not only that, they don’t skimp on the ingredients — you get a normally-sized flour tortilla (you can pick a flavor) with rice, beans, guacamole, onions, tomatoes, and your choice of grilled steak, grilled pork, grilled chicken, or the pull chicken. Orders come with a bag of chips (though I have always had to ask for the little container of salsa to go along with it).
