Hard Knox Cafe: Coming Soon to the Outer Richmond (on Clement)

Eater SF alerted me to the news of Hard Knox prepping a space in the Outer Richmond for its soul food goodness. Their current digs are in the Dogpatch part of town, which I reviewed last year, so this new location amongst my peoples will be a welcome addition.

(Bryant, you’ll only have 5 blocks to go if you’re looking for some fried catfish, fried chicken, or delicious pork chops and cornbread muffins.)

I’m looking forward to the invite to check out store #2…and am hoping the garlic powder flavor that seemed to be pervasive in my pork chops during my first visit is remedied.

Olivia’s Soul Food (San Francisco Sole) - Lip Smackin’ Good

Olivia’s (to be renamed San Francisco Sole at some point)
4712 Third St
San Francisco, CA 94124
(415) 647-3663

Make sure when you decide to hit this place, that you get your driving directions down right. This place isn’t in the “hiply industrial” part of Dogpatch or Third St. It’s really in the Bayview/Hunter’s Point district. (How either of those are geographically separated, I don’t know. I seem to see them always lumped together, so I’m doing so myself.)

Bodega Bistro: French Vietnamese in the Tenderloin

Bodega Bistro
607 Larkin St.
(between Eddy St & Willow St)
(415) 921-1218

I usually just associated San Francisco’s strip of Little Saigon (Larkin Street near Hastings Law School) as the place to go for dirt cheap and delicious banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches). The Sunset was for actual Vietnamese restaurants, and those were usually Chinese/Vietnamese BBQ hybrids, or so I thought.

Chicken with Red Bell Peppers Recipe

My friend TBJ’s momma was in town, so I had the honor of meeting her over a homemade dinner. TBJ picked an easy chicken recipe from Epicurious, and served up Chicken with Red Bell Peppers. This is an easy one to make, with ingredients that you should have mostly available. The sweetness of the red bell peppers balances well with the white wine and butter.Chicken with Red Bell Peppers
