Next time you plan to seat yourself and some friends in front of the boob tube for some quality couch time, serve up this easy snack. It’s not exactly light on the calories or for the lactose intolerant, but otherwise it’s a must eat.
Easy Chili Dip
1 regular rectangular block of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1 regular can of spicy BEANLESS chili (yes, that exists)
1 bag of tortilla chips
1 pot
1 stirring spoon

I had heard about FSC and how it was a restaurant run by the Latino Cuisine Culinary Academy, which is a program offered at the Mission Language and Vocational School around the corner. They’re only open for lunch on weekdays, so plan accordingly.
The doc and I visited this place and we weren’t disappointed. It was a little different than I expected, as this place made the list of the Chronicle’s Bargain Bites. This was no dive operation — it’s a larger simple space, with clean wooden chairs and tables. We arrived a little bit before noon on a Thursday and there were more than enough tables to spare.

Los Jarritos
901 South Van Ness
San Francisco, CA 94110
Open Daily, 9am-10pm

We ducked in here for a late Sunday lunch while I waited for my stubborn 12-year old car to get detailed. Even at about 3pm, this family-run place was still packed.
Though the breakfasts (served any time of day) looked enticing, Francisco had told me to get the combo lunch plate. Kiko’s Combination allows 2 house specialties, plus rice, beans, a green salad, and their yummy freshly-made corn tortillas. The business lunch plate is slightly cheaper ($6.95) than the dinner plate ($10.95). However, we had special instructions to order off the menu.

Guerrero’s Taqueria

Read the reviews on Yelp for more details on this locals-only Mexican restaurant in Pacifica. It’s a serve-yourself affair.
Grubgirl wanted to point out that the soft tacos qualify for cheap eats, since you can get one for $1.90 and it was pretty tasty. I got one with carne asada on it. Most tacos sold from trucks range in the $1.00 - $1.50 range, so for a helping surrounded by four walls, I was impressed by the price for the quantity of meat, white onion, and cilantro on top.
