As the comments do note, this little health code violation has been cleaned up. But компютриvermin photos from Eater SF are always a nice thing to see. Now is that really a rat in the grainy photos or a fuzzy mitten or glove? You decide… (sort of like Dick Cheney and the naked woman reflected in his sunglasses.)

Tea Garden
515 Mission Street
San Francisco, CA 94105
(415) 882-4388
Based on a MenuPages blog tip (talking about one of my blog tips), I decided to check out Tea Garden during my weekday break from the cubicle farm.
Tea Garden is a hole-in-the-wall Chinese food and boba tea house, across from the almighty JP Morgan offices on Mission. (Yelp reviews have identified this place as Taiwanese. The 3 employees there all spoke Mandarin, so I’m not sure what that really means.) They’ve got noodle dishes, which I had to check out, given MenuPages’ tip. Prices were pretty good, too, in the $5-6 range. Add-ons include tea- or soy sauce-soaked hard boiled eggs, and some other condiments.

Reader Steve writes in with this question:
Is there a law in california that restaurant coupons do not expire?
Great question Steve. The answer is: NO, there is no such law regarding restaurant coupons not expiring.
HOWEVER, this belief could have been derived from these two scenarios:
1) Restaurant A always has a coupon for $5 off a pizza. In fact, anyone would be lame to NOT have one of these, they issue so many. If you look closely those will have expiration dates on them. However, chances are that if you bring in one that’s already expired, the staff member may just assume you could grab another one (with a later expiration date), since there are piles of them one the counter anyway.

Just read your latest blog. So I wanted to share this with you.
Hing Lung
El Zocalo
Sushi Zone
Old Mandarin
Wow, Old Mandarin totally surprised me with their score!
Yes, grubfans, you CAN eat in clean, sanitary surroundings and still get reasonably priced food. Oh wait…both Sushi Zone and Old Mandarin ran on the high end of my mid-range. Well, yeah, at least with Hing Lung, you can see that it may not be Mr. Clean spotless. :-p
This brings up another grub destination that I was planning on visiting, Go Go Cafe. But upon reading a certain review on Yelp that mentioned:
