Now that it’s hip to be cheap, CNN has some food-saving tips to lower your grocery bill. Many of these are common sense to the GrubCrowd, and the main tradeoff is your time:

Some key points / reminders:
Plan ahead in order to buy the right things and to reduce waste
Buy in bulk (as long as you were planning to buy that stuff anyway)
Get the least-processed version of the food (ie instead of boneless skinless chicken, try bone-in)
Check out your local farmer’s market
And don’t forget that beans and rice can go a long way
