1300 Fillmore (@ Eddy)
At the recent Juneteenth celebration that coincided with the Fillmore Farmer’s Market, the upscale soul food restaurant known as 1300 Fillmore had a booth serving up BBQ Shrimp & Grits for $5.
In addition to the delicious and generous sample, the friendly folks at 1300 Fillmore were also promoting their happy hour (also known as “O Happy Hour”):
Monday – Thursdays
4:30pm – 7:30pm
$3 draft beers
$3 sparkling wine
$5 well drinks and house wines
Those are pretty competitive prices for an upscale establishment. When asked, they also said that there were happy hour food specials, but the only specific I got was a Po’ Boy sandwich for $9, which sounds a little pricey without an accompanying visual.
1300 Fillmore’s happy hour competes with others in the nearby Lower Pacific Heights area that are trying anything to get budget-conscious foodies into seats and ordering beverages. We recently wrote about Woodhouse Fish Company‘s Oyster Tuesdays, Elite Cafe‘s Oyster Happy Hour, and then there are the more established Harry‘s Hamburger Special and the discounted bar menu at Solstice on Divisadero. Unsure if newly-opened Dosa also offers happy hour discounts.
One thing is certain – there are more budget-conscious grubgirls and grubboys now more than ever, and they know when a deal is really a deal. Just make sure there’s some food on the menu at a decent value, and we’ll spread the word.
I love the Fillmore area, so this is perfect! Another happy hour to check out. 🙂 Thanks for the info.
Just went there yesterday. The bar was busy, the DJ was spinning some old school and lounge. The half price food items included French Fries, Fried Chicken Po’Boy ($5.50 HH price), Lamb Sliders, Ribs and more. My favorite was the grits with sauteed mushrooms. Yum!
Yum, Dee Dee – thanks for the scoop and the price check. Good to know the grub is HALF OFF. “Now we’re talkin’, yknow what I’m sayin’??”
