Recipe: Honey Lemon Ginger Infusion for a Sore Throat

If you’ve got an itchy throat or feel yourself coming down with a flu this winter, save some money and make your own soothing hot drink. The folks over at SlashFood have a good Honey Lemon Ginger infusion / hot drink:

“Simply grate a half inch chunk of ginger into a large mug. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon in on top (you can also add the zest if you’re feeling daring) and add a heaping teaspoonful of honey (feel free to adjust the sweetness level to your personal taste). Fill the cup with boiling water and stir to combine. Drink while still warm and repeat as necessary. “

Mmmm. The steam alone from this concoction could provide for some good aromatherapy.

This beats paying a small fortune for sugar candy masquerading as cough drops, and sounds pretty tasty even if you’ve had a flu shot and are protected from illness. (My one concern is how edible the grated ginger is when you’re drinking. That is, is it a too-tart invasion of the taste buds, or does it seem to spread out its tanginess? Guess I’ll have to try it out!)
