Healthy and Quick Recipes from CookingLight

Bookmark this CookingLight page now. They call it the Superfast list - healthy, easy, and fast recipes. I have yet to try them but I took a look at a few and they look easy enough for an amateur like me with an all-electric kitchen (AEK).

My real goal is to find recipes that are able to take its list of ingredients and not have any leftovers of them. Ok, that sounds a bit awkward. I realize that most recipes I make will have leftovers. I eat more than one serving, and recipes are for 4-6 servings, on average.

I have some cookbooks from my travels - and gee - why does everyone else cook with a metric system except for the US?! I’ve realized that I procrastinate from cooking wonderful (and easy) dishes from Spain and Cuba because I can’t be bothered with searching another book for the conversions!

Beignets, grits, grillades…what is all that? Knowing a few share of southerners and one New Orleans native, I decided to take TBJ to check out what all the fuss was about with Brenda’s. I needed someone along who could do an authenticity check on this grub. What intrigued me about Brenda’s was that they say no entree is more than $10 there. Better not be for breakfast, ok??

How Long to Keep Stored Foods

I’ve eaten bad meat. That I made bad, apparently. I eagerly accepted the nieces’ leftover Wahoo Fish Taco beef teriyaki bowl. Purchased on New Year’s Eve (12/31). I left it in my refrigerator in its original take-out styrofoam container. Using the FIFO (first-in, first-out) inventory method of consumption, I just got to snacking on it for dinner Saturday (1/05). Hm, six days, no problem!! There was no odd smell, so that smell didn’t turn up anything fishy (har har).

*Urgh* But something is slightly amiss. I ignored that “not so fresh” feeling and ate some more for an after-dinner snack. *Blurgh*.
