Food Network on Hulu

If you’re either picky about the quality of the video you watch online, or happen to have a high-tech kitchen with a touch screen, networked monitor in it, you should register for Hulu and check out their Food Network channel. Of course, they don’t have Alton Brown on there (why, Food Network, why hold back???), but two series do seem intriguing to me:

  1. Food Network Chef Robin Miller
  2. Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger

…as their descriptions say they’ve got quick and healthy recipes for the stressed out urbanite.

Julia Child: Spy Chef?

Maybe Bravo TV’s Top Chef creators can get some task ideas from this latest disclosure from the US National Archives: Julia Child was a spy for the Office of Strategic Services (or OSS), which was the precursor to the CIA. Not bad! The video says she handled “secret field reports” during World War II…maybe those were top secret recipes like the Coca Cola formula!

Chapeau in San Francisco: Put Your Hat Back On

Chapeau!
1408 Clement St
San Francisco, CA 94118
(415) 750-9787

My friends The Asian Marina Couple (TAMC) had gone to Chapeau! a few times (once even for Valentine’s Day) and raved about its French bistro food, the attentive neighborhoody service, and value-oriented prix fixe. Since they’re pretty picky about dining (yet also value-oriented like us GrubGirl groupies), I added Chapeau! to my list of places to check out. Finally I got the gals to go before hitting the Sex and The City movie.
