Spice ‘n Sausage Burglar Arrested

In news of the weird, the Fresno Bee does some diligent reporting on a rare burglary involving a sausage and some of Pappy’s Seasoning:

“A burglar who broke into a home just east of Fresno rubbed food seasoning over the body of one of two men as they slept in their rooms and then used an 8-inch sausage to whack the other man on the face and head before running out of the house, Fresno County sheriff’s deputies said Saturday.”Pappy’s Seasoning

Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival, Pushing Daisies, and Free Pie

I’d seen a few commercials for ABC’s Pushing Daisies but had no idea what it was about (except for possible some similarity to HBO’s former series about a family of undertakers, Six Feet Under.)

Well, Miguel wrote in to tell me that the show is hosting a free pie tour, where a truck known as the Mobile Pie Hole is going to give out free pie tastings at Ghirardelli Square on Sunday, September 7, from 12pm – 5pm. Not bad, huh? For more information on the tour and the show, check out their Pushing Daisies Tour site. (Note: Getting into the actual Chocolate Festival will set you back $15-20, so make sure you get your money’s worth if you plan on checking it out!)

Tiger Beer, Curry, and CelebrASIAN

David wrote in to tell me about a free food event on September 15 in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow district.

From the looks of what he wrote, we’re talking some Tiger Beer samples, free curry samples, and even a little massage. Tiger Beer is from Singapore (home of Raffles Hotel, the Merlion, and the Singapore Sling cocktail), and I think this is a big marketing push to build brand awareness in SF, or the States as a whole.

“Tiger Beer an award-winning gold medal lager from Singapore and perfect
pairing for spicy foods, is proud to sponsor a month long Curry
CelebrASIAN.
