Chronicle cheap eats…but are they Grubgirl cheap?

The SF Chronicle’s list of bargain bites has me wondering what constitutes a bargain in the Chronicle’s eyes. So I’m making an attempt to hit a few of these. Look for commentary soon.

Remember, my bargain/value criteria (especially for Asian food) include quantity, quality, and rock-bottom prices. “Rock-bottom” is all relative. That is, $9 for any meal at a dive-y Asian restaurant is equal to a $$$ rating and is a bit overpriced. That same $9 for a hearty meal at a European-type restaurant with actual servers that care about your experiece? Not bad…

Fillmore Farmer’s Market: Get a bargain on organic veggies

Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market

O’Farrell @ Fillmore (Western Addition)

Near the (Un)Safeway in Western Addition, there’s a low-key farmers’ market every Saturday in the spring & summer.

It’s small, only 1/2 a block long, but you can buy enough for a weekly salad, and some healthy snacks. I haven’t been to the Marina Farmers’ Market, but the prices here for organic veggies are definitely lower priced than what you find at the Ferry Plaza.

Here’s a list of the things I recall there:

– 1 fresh bread stand

Q: Getting a great value for brunch

225 Clement Street
San Francisco, CA 94118
(415) 752-2298

Reviews on Yelp (I couldn’t find the restaurant in CitySearch using its 1-letter name. But search engine functionality is not what this blog is about.)

What brunch place could I compare Q to, in order to make my point that their brunch menu is worthy of a visit? It’s not a typical diner or greasy spoon. They provide an unpretentiously hip spin to traditional fare, without going overboard in the gourmet category. So perhaps, a slightly more budget-friendly and funkier Ella’s? Or Hobee’s?

Testing Trackbacks

Been playing around with Trackbacks and Pings — both seem to be quite similar here.

Found a helpful site that lets me play with Trackback though not sure in what capacity:

TestTrack

And here’s another one that talks about it: Optiniche
