Where or where is the equivalent of this in San Francisco? I’ve heard rumors that certain taco trucks provide such delicious fare but none of my friends dare venture with me…and we all know it’s more fun to eat with friends.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know about Taco Mesa – so you don’t have to drive all the way down to Tijuana to get legit tacos. Instead, you just have to go to Orange County.

I’m talking about the tacos that come on 2 tiny flour tortillas and consist of just a few ingredients: chopped steak, fresh cilantro, snow white onions, a tiny lime wedge, and some salsa of your choice. No extra juice from the salsa to make the whole thing soggy…which is how some have been up here in SF. You have a ton of these between volleyball games or playing in the ocean.

Taco Mesa provides clean surroundings for this — thus the slightly higher prices than the usual taco stand $1. Their Tacos Tradicionales are $2 a piece, and come in carne asada, al pastor, or carnitas forms.

They also have burritos, and fancier versions of everything…if you don’t watch out you could be spending $10 a piece easily but…stick with 2-3 legit tacos, they’ll pile on some chips, and grub away….
